Frances RoyAugust 28, 2019

TED Conferences exist to dispense ideas worth spreading. Built on the concept of sharing information from experts on education, business, science, technology and more, TED Talks are designed to resonate with people from all backgrounds who seek a deeper understanding of the world. Our team often turns to these short videos when we are in need of creative inspiration. Here are a few of our favorite Talks.

12 Truths I Learned from Life and Writing by Anne Lamott

Anne is gentle and brilliantly real. When I need a dose of reality or to remember my own humanity, I watch or listen to her TED Talk. Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the talk:

"Don't get your help and goodness all over everybody."

"Chocolate with 75% cacao is not actually a food."

"Every writer you know writes very terrible first drafts but they keep their butt in the chair."

"A good name for God is: Not me"

Janae Erickson, Art Director

How Craving Attention Makes You Less Creative by Joseph Gordon Levitt

I love seeing artists as collaborators and not competitors. This Talk has really improved my mindset and creativity!

Hillaree Durso, Content Director

I enjoy too many to choose just one. Here are a few of my favorites!

Great Leaders Inspire Action by Simon Sinek

Why Good Leaders Make You Feel Safe by Simon Sinek

The Power of Vulnerability by Brene Brown

Are you a giver or a taker? by Adam Grant

Kelsey Doar, Marketing Manager

My Year of Saying Yes to Everything by Shonda Rhimes

Besides the fact that I love Shonda’s work and think she’s a creative genius, this Talk puts life back into perspective and teaches us that even the most hard working, influential people need to slow down to show up as their best self.

Kayla Koger, Art Assistant

Why are some people left-handed? by Daniel M. Abrams.

I’m part of the 10 percent of the world’s population that is left handed, so I’ve been intrigued since the first time I came across the name of this Talk.

How Better Tech Could Protect Us From Distraction by Tristan Harris

In this TED talk, he talks about how we, as humans, get so distracted with the technology on our phone. It’s a complete eye opener!
