Social Media Trends to Watch in 2022

Frances RoyNovember 29, 2021

A new year means new social media trends! Our team creates content strategies and tactics for each of our clients to help navigate the next year. The result? We gathered these top three trends your brand needs to prioritize across all social media accounts in 2022.

The growth of bite-sized content.

With the short attention spans in today’s society and the rise of short-form social media content like TikTok and Reels, bite-size content will continue to reign supreme on social media. Concise, easily digestible posts drive more traffic than longer content because bite-size posts grab attention quickly. That doesn’t mean long-form content should be off your to-do list. Both bite-size and long-form content has a time and a place in your communication strategy. Short-form content is the best form of capturing attention and quickly informing, whereas long-form garners engagement and deeper relationships. Prioritize a variety of content, but keep in mind the value of bite-size social media posts.

An increase in social selling.

The main goal for social media platforms is to keep people on their sites. With a huge increase in online shopping in recent years, many social media users leave social platforms to visit other shopping sites. Social media websites are aiming to change this by offering selling and buying functions directly on their platforms. Because people are shopping online more than ever before, this new feature is sure to grow in 2022. If you are a product-based business, we highly suggest taking advantage of this new social media feature.

The power of influencer marketing.

We’ve seen influencer marketing increase year after year, but it will continue to remain dominant in 2022. If you have not implemented an influencer marketing strategy, now is the time to start! It’s no longer about working with the influencers that have the biggest audience. Companies now work with individuals that have a loyal following that they have built an authentic relationship with. Working with influencers has become more strategic over time and in 2022, it will be even more about building trust and ongoing relationships rather than one-off campaigns with the most popular influencers on the platforms.
