A die-hard LSU Tiger, Kelsey graduated from Louisiana State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in mass communication. She later went on to receive her master’s in business administration from Louisiana State University Shreveport. With her educational background and desire for a fast-paced profession, Kelsey pursued a career in marketing where she has served clients from nonprofits to regional destinations to local small businesses and more. Kelsey moved to Florida in 2016 and pursued a job that would be a great fit for her after working in the hospitality and tourism industry. Kelsey saw a Frances Roy Agency post on Facebook, did some research, and then reached out to Shantelle to meet for coffee. She says, “I immediately knew Frances Roy Agency was a place I’d love to work.”
The Frances Roy value that resonates the most with Kelsey is family first. Working for a company that recognizes family is a non-negotiable for her. “Having the support of an organization that promotes family importance has helped me be a successful work-from-home parent,” she adds.
Kelsey loves working on fun new creative challenges that energize her at work. Fun projects that are out of the norm of everyday work energize her and challenge her to think in a different way. One thing Kelsey does outside of work to help avoid burnout is by taking time off where she is away from computers and screens. She says, “It’s the best thing I do to help me feel energized and ready to come back to work refreshed.” In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and baby girl, traveling, and reading.
When it comes to the best piece of professional advice to pass along, Kelsey finds it a little hard to pick just one. A piece that is resonating with her recently is to take chances. This is something Shantelle encourages and having the courage to do new things has helped Kelsey personally and professionally. “I’ve come to realize that if I don’t take action with my new ideas, they will just take up space in my head. If I try and fail, at least I know that idea didn’t work,” she says.
When asked what topic she wishes to learn about this year, Kelsey says, “So random, but for a while I have wanted to make my own candles so I’d like to finally learn this year!”
