How to Enhance Your Brand’s Visual Storytelling

Frances RoyJuly 28, 2019

Facebook posts with visuals receive more than double the engagement than posts without an image.1 Emails with video clips included spike click rates up to 300 percent!2 Just simply using the word “video” in an email subject line boosts open rates by 19% and clickthrough rates by 65%.3 It’s no secret that consumers resonate with imagery more than just words on a page. That’s why creating quality visuals should be a major part of your marketing strategy. Here are a few practical tips you can incorporate today to enhance your visual content.

Be consistent

Make sure that your visuals are easily recognizable by your audience. Use the same colors in your graphics, choose the same filters for your photos, stick to using your brand fonts. These are all effective ways to show up consistently in your storytelling. Prioritizing design when it comes to creating content sets you apart amongst the content clutter. Keeping your design top of mind when communicating with your audience quickly creates brand visibility and recognition, allowing your customers to notice your brand’s content within seconds after seeing it.

Use video

We know you’ve heard this before, but we are here to tell you again - video is so important. The “good ole days” of stellar engagement rates without using video are long gone. The good news is, it doesn’t all have to be professionally-produced content. While we suggest investing in a few quality videos, hopping on Facebook Live or Instagram Stories a few times a week is an effective way to communicate directly with your audience.

Be Unique

We sure you have already defined your brand’s values (if not, read this), so be sure to keep those values top of mind when creating your content. The single best thing to do to stand out is to be uniquely you! Don’t just share something because it is what everyone else is posting. Experiment with different types of visual content including GIFs, infographics, animations, memes, etc. to see what works well with your audience. In addition, don’t be afraid to be transparent with your content. The only way people are truly able to connect with your brand is if they feel like they are connecting with you as a person. Show your personality and give your audience something they can relate to. This strategy works wonders in building a relationship that is mutually beneficial for you and your customers!
